
Born and raised in the Coyoacan area, a self taught artesano who learned from the indigenous and various artesanos, and speaks fluent Nahautl. Tonio uses wire, wood, plata and animal skin techniques to create his artistic vision.
His father (from Puebla) is a decendent of the Zacapuaxtla indians. Whose ancestors fought the French at the "Battle of Puebla" the 5th of May. His Mother's heritage dates back to Lake Texcoco, where the proficy of the eagle seen with a snake in its grasp on a cactus on the isla Tenochtilan "place of the cactus" whence came.
